Is dental pain the worst pain ever? Bonus question, are ALL dentists robbing c***s?

Last week my gum was slightly sore so started using bonjela and painkillers. Pain eased but then came back so thought I better book in to see the dentist.
Get to dentist and they do the normal check up, xrays and whatever else and according to them my gum is inflamed so I need to see a hygienist for a deep clean scale and polish. OK, why not, no harm done I guess ....
Next thing dentist tells me a crown I had done about 3 years ago is loose and cracked so she asks "any pain?" I answer "no" she says I should get a new crown to prevent FUTURE problems.
So from coming out of the dentist with mild tooth/gum pain I now have a bill next week for a new crown and hygienist so around 300 sovs
Dentists = c***s

I think kidney stones are worse and although I've never tried it, having a baby is pretty bad.

I feel your pain mate, went to dentist couple weeks back had to have my wisdom tooth out.
Whilst I was there, I was then told I had an infection in one of my molars.
Took a few xrays, took the tooth out gave me amoxycillin (sp) cost me £200.

Oh to make matters worse, I've got a cunting abcess on my tooth which requires root canal and and a crown.
Can't get an NHS appointment until March

The actual dentistry is not pain but discomfort at best, the bill at the end is very painful especially if it's a regular appointment.

I swear they purposely FIND stuff that doesn't exist. Bit like when your car goes for MOT I guess. C***S

I needed a root canal, my dentist said I had two options, number 1, private, cost £600, number 2 NHS, cost £54. The only difference was the type of injection, same dentist, building etc.

I had a tooth abcess a couple of years ago on a dodgy tooth… got an appointment and fully thought he was just going to rip it out… job done … said he wanted to get the abcess under control so would stick us on a course of AB’s and to come back a couple of weeks later… no it might have been the severe lack of sleep I have had over the past week due to the pain but I stuck to the dentist chair and told him I was not going anywhere until he yanked it out… after a brief conversation he agreed … in the end… tooth whipped out… gauzes in place… paid my bill… walked out the practiceand threw up everywhere… including the gauzes in my mouth… without thinking… to stem the bleeding I fished out the 2 gauzes and shoved them back in my mouth…. Not the brightest thing… Had an infection for about a month I reckon???? Anyway… pain that week was on par with when my disc herniated in my back and when I had a blocked bladder… on par… or maybe a tad under...

I had loads of bad experiences with dentists as a kid. Now I suffer broken and infected teeth rather than go back.
Give me eye surgery any day.

When I was 21 (1987 ish) I had a check up and was told I needed nine fillings .
Never went back .
Fast forward to 3 years ago had a pretty bad toothache , one filling .
So yes , if I needed nine fillings 30 odd years ago I would probably have nine less teeth by now.

Just this Monday I had an appointment for a loose crown. Turned out the root had cracked, no choice but to pull it. Gutted. There goes another.
No serious pain on this occasion, other than the pain in the pocket, but proper tooth or ear pain, due to infection, is fucking awful. If it's your hand or foot hurting, you can some how ignore it, if you think right, but teeth and ears are in your skull, and it feels like there is no way of zoning out of it.
That's why, no matter skint you are, if you have real toothache, you will find money to fix it even if you have to rob a passing pensioner.

Sciatica is way worse and there are no recognized painkillers for it.
Surgery is the only solution and the NHS waiting list is about 6 months.

After pissing out a kidney stone last summer I have to say that it was worse than the dentist's....but probably cheaper.

I had a kidney stone a couple of years ago.
That was fucking intense, I honestly thought I was going to die.
Collapsed at work on the Thursday, work called an Ambulance and taken to North Middlesex Hospital I got pumped full of Morphine and discharged myself.
Friday morning after the Morphine wears off I ended up calling an Ambulance for myself.
They did the op on Saturday morning.
